Program Viability update
54
Program Viability Timeline
  • Since the April Coordinating Board meeting, ADHE
has provided initial program viability data to
the CAOs. The 3-year program viability reporting
period was from 2005-06 through 2007-08. New
programs were not included in the viability
    report.
  • During this time, CAOs also submitted information
on existing program review. Over the next 2
months ADHE will review institutional 10-year
    program review schedules and institutional
requests for cognate and embedded program
designations. All requests for cognate and
embedded program designations are due now.
  • After reviewing the requests, ADHE will notify
the presidents, chancellors and CAOs of programs
still not meeting viability standards and
institutions may submit program viability appeals
    to ADHE by November 2.
  • ADHE will send the final list of programs not
meeting viability standards to the institutions
on January 8, 2010, and will present this data at
the Coordinating Board meeting on January 29,
    2010.
  • Not funding of courses recommendation January
    2011.

55
Preliminary Program Viability Data
  • 1,032 (57) of 1,805 programs at the 2-year and
4-year institutions meet the new viability
    standards approved in October 2008.
  • 655 (65) of 996 programs at 4-year institutions
    meet new viability standards.
  • 377 (47) of 809 programs at 2-year institutions
    meet new viability standards.

2008 College-Going Rate by County
65
SUMMARY
  • College-going rates have remained close to the
national averages over the last several years.
  • College-going rates only focus on
traditional-aged students at the beginning of the
    pipeline.
  • To achieve higher degree production, retention
and completion must also be considered for
    traditional and nontraditional students.
  • Overall, Arkansas compares favorably with the
nation on the College-Going Rate, but not as well
    with graduation or retention rates.

Non-Classified Personnel2010-11 Fiscal Year
  • Agenda Item No. 6
  • July 31, 2009

84
2010-11 Personal Services
  • These recommendations, effective July 1, 2010,
recognize the varying structures and sizes of
    institutions, while maintaining reasonable
    consistency among positions at similar
    institutions.
  • During the 2009-11 Personal Service Request
    process, institutions of higher education
requested positions for a two year term, and were
    approved for everything they requested.
  • Due to this, requests were expected to be
    minimal.
  • Additional recommendations were only made in
emergency situations that could not be addressed
    using the growth pools.
  • ADHE staff reviewed all position requests and
    made preliminary recommendations.
