- GDC 140-162/NDC Chapter 4
- Thursday, December 26, 2013
2Divine Pedagogy refers to principles by which God
has shared His life with us.
- The pedagogy of God refers to His slow, patient,
Fatherly guidance, both in the lives of the
individual but also with His people as a whole. - The pedagogy of Christ is seen in His Incarnation
and in His entire life, in which He worked
through words, signs and works, especially to the
poor and sinners.
3Divine Pedagogy refers to principles by which God
has shared His life with us.
- The pedagogy of the Church shows us that Gods
grace comes to us through His Body, the Church. - The pedagogy of the Holy Spirit is demonstrated
through the interior work of the Holy Spirit in
the life of each baptized person.
4Divine Pedagogy refers to principles by which God
has shared His life with us.
- Catechesis is called to reflect these principles
of Divine Pedagogy in the human methodologies we
use.
52. Human methodologies refer to the ways in which
we, as catechists, pass on the Faith to others.
Methodologies
- Are to be diverse, but never against the
principles of the Gospel. - Are at the service of Revelation, that is, a
relationship with Jesus Christ and all that He
has revealed to us through Scripture and
Tradition under the authority of the magisterium.
62. Human methodologies refer to the ways in which
we, as catechists, pass on the Faith to others.
Methodologies
- Are both inductive and deductive.
- Use human experience as the place where the Faith
is lived on a daily basis.
72. Human methodologies refer to the ways in which
we, as catechists, pass on the Faith to others.
Methodologies
- Use memorization to further conversion.
- Work with the person of the catechist and the
entire Christian community in passing on the
Faith.
83. See Handouts on the Ecclesial Method.
9For Discussion
- Taking a Bible, flip through the Gospel of St.
Matthew, paying attention to Jesus actions.
Given His actions (healings, miracles, teachings,
sacrifice, etc), what can we learn about Gods
pedagogy, that is, His principles of passing on
the Faith to us? - How can catechetical methods both serve and hurt
our catechetical endeavors? Please give
examples. - Put together a session based on the Ecclesia
Method below. Use the blank form below.
