The history of the song.

• Moon River is a song composed by Johnny Mercer
  (lyrics) and Henry Mancini (music) in 1961. They
  wrote the song for Audrey Hepburn to fit her
  vocal range. Initially the lyrics started, "I'm
  Holly, like I want to be / like Holly on a tree
  back home...", however they were later changed to
  fit the theme of the movie Breakfast at
  Tiffany's.

• It was originally sung in the movie Breakfast at
  Tiffany's by Audrey Hepburn, although it has been
  covered by many other artists. The song also won
  the 1962 Grammy Award for Record of the Year and
  an Oscar for Best Song.

  starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. The
  film was directed by Blake Edwards and released
  by Paramount Pictures. It was loosely based on
  the novella of the same name by Truman Capote.

  January 1993) was a British actress. Hepburn
  became one of the most successful film actresses
  in the world and performed with such notable
  leading men as Gregory Peck, Rex Harrison,
  Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper. She won BAFTA
  Awards for her performances in The Nun's Story
  (1959) and Charade (1963), and received Academy
  Award nominations for Sabrina (1954), The Nun's
  Story (1959), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) and
  Wait Until Dark (1967).
