The purpose of the 11
  • Grammar schools have a selective process to
    ensure high level of achievement.

The Test Papers
  • Children sit a Verbal Reasoning paper, a
    Non-Verbal Reasoning paper and a Mathematics
    paper. They also complete a writing exercise.
  • The Verbal Reasoning paper takes 50 minutes
  • The Non-Verbal about 40 minutes.
  • The Mathematics paper and the writing exercise
    each take one hour.
  • The answer sheets for all but the writing are
    multiple-choice.
  • NO READING COMPREHENSION

2012 THRESHOLDS
  • Last year, a child needed to score a total of 360
    or more in the tests, with no single score lower
    than 119.
  • Scores are standardised using the pupils age.

  • Shaded area - KENT suggest that a pupil working
    at these levels shows a good indication to 11
    suitability.
