  • Power School should be available mid September.
  • A 97-100
  • A 93-96
  • B 89-92
  • B 85-88

  • D 70-74
  • E 69 and below

Reading
  • Students will use the Macmillan McGraw Reader and
    at times, novel sets.
  • Major focus is comprehension, returning to text
    to find answers.
  • Develop critical thinking and reasoning skills.
    Inferences, predictions, cause and effect, and
    story elements.
  • Students must have a book with them at all times.
    Reading is important. Must be grade level
    appropriate, mid-September.
  • Complete Reading Log each evening. Submitted for
    grade.

  • Word Choice
  • Sentence Fluency- read aloud
  • Conventions- edit
  • Presentation
  • Grammar- through text and own writing sample.
  • Reading/Writing Workshop for editing.
  • Paragraphs should be at least 6 sentences in
    length.

  • Apply word meanings through synonyms, antonyms,
    answer questions from a narrative.
  • There will be book reports and projects
    throughout the year.

  • enVision Math- multiplication, division,
    fractions, decimals, measurement, time and
    temperature, congruence, symmetry, patterns, data
    and graphs, area, perimeter, probability,
    estimation, lines, angles, shapes.
  • Apply skills to real-life applications.
  • Estimation Jar, Logic Puzzles, Tangrams

Computation Please practice basic facts.
Classroom drills to begin late September.

  • Scientific Process- Emphasis is a hands-on,
    minds-on approach to learn observation skills,
    predicting, classifying, comparing, measuring,
    sequencing, collecting evidence, testing a
    hypothesis, controlling test conditions,
    organizing and presenting data.

  • Volunteers for lunch supervision, field trip
    chaperones. STAND approval.
  • As year progresses, look for needs listed on
    class webpage.
  • Building classroom library and novel sets for
    reading.
