  • 800- 925 Spelling, Grammar, Writing
  • 925-1010 Specials (Teachers Conference time)
  • 1010 -1150 Non Homeroom MS or RS
  • 1150- 1215 Homeroom Begins MS or RS
  • 1215- 115 Recess/Lunch
  • 115 245 Homeroom MS or RS
  • 245 300 Pack up and dismissal

Attendance
  • Our district policy to support all children
    attending school is
  • 3rd tardy- email or phone call to inform parent.
    We are required to notify you.
  • 5 Tardies or unexcused absences phone call to
    parent from the classroom teacher to communicate
    concerns.
  • 8 Tardies or unexcused absences Phone call from
    Assistant Principal to parent and letter mailed
    to parent and certified mail sent to parent.
  • 10 Tardies or unexcused absences Letter mailed
    to parent and certified mail sent to parent.
    Failure to attend school charges will be filed.

Attendance
  • Absences Absence Excuse Notes need to be
    brought to school the day the child returns from
    an absence. The office must have a note by the
    third day after the absence in order for the
    absence to be excused.
  • Parent e-mails to teacher are fine and will be
    forwarded to our attendance clerk and will count
    as the excuse note.
  • Every Day, On Time-Attendance Sticks

Dismissal General Information
  • Please be patient! Your childs safety is our
    primary concern. The carpool lines will move
    faster after the first couple weeks of school
    we promise!
  • If picking up a student(s) in 3rd 5th grade
    only please use the driveway on the Waskom side.
  • If picking up a fourth grade student who has a
    sibling in 3rd-5th grade, please use the driveway
    on the Waskom side.
  • Children will be placed in the car on the
    passenger side only.
  • Please do not get out of your car. This will
    help us keep the line moving as quickly as
    possible.
  • If picking up a walker, please wait in the grassy
    area outside the playground fence. Walkers will
    be dismissed after the K-2 car line has finished.
    Please DO NOT drive a car to school if meeting a
    walker.
  • Dogs are not allowed on campus.

Rainy Day Dismissal
  • On rainy days students who walk can be picked up
    from the car line on the Waskom side at 315.
  • New this year School messenger will
  • e-mail parents of students who normally
  • walk at 240 to inform you when it is
  • a rainy day dismissal.

Homework
  • Homework will consist of Reading, Math, and
    Spelling.
  • Guided Reading will also be sent home in a few
    weeks
  • Regular daily homework should take about 40
    minutes.
  • Make-up work and unfinished class work will be in
    addition to regularly assigned homework.

Grading Policies/Procedures
  • Assignments scoring below 70 can be corrected
    for a higher grade.
  • Late papers will be accepted. Ten points per day
    will be deducted from grade.
  • Academy will be assigned for students who do not
    return homework or who have overdue unfinished
    work. Students will also receive a folder
    signature for each day the homework is not turned
    in.

Discipline Procedures
  • Thursday folder will be signed for behavior,
    participation, and work completion as a way to
    communicate with you. Consequences for loss of
    privileges such as loss or all or part of recess,
    silent lunch, writing a reflections form will be
    applied for signatures for behavior only. Severe
    behavior issues will result in office referral.

  • Please sign the Red Thursday Folder calendar each
    week. Look for our newsletter, important papers,
    and graded papers in the Thursday folder. Empty
    the folder and return on Friday.
  • Rewards Positive Referrals-Ducks in a Row,
    praise notes home, phone calls or e-mails home,
    MVP, other classroom rewards.

Snacks/Birthday Treats
  • Please send a snack daily. Lunch isnt until
    1245. Student snacks need to be healthy (No
    candy, donuts, cookies, etc) www.squaremeals.org
  • Birthday treats must be store bought-no drinks.
    Deliver to the office only. Treats will be taken
    to class at 230.

  • Take Home Guided Reading Books will be sent home
    Mon-Thurs. Please keep in the bag. There will be
    an assignment each evening with the guided
    reading book. Return the books each day. Well
    use them in class too.

Spelling
  • A pretest will be given every Monday. Students
    will be given a regular 4th grade list if more
    than one word is misspelled.
  • Students will be given a challenge list if 1 or
    0 words are missed on pretest.
  • The weekly spelling list will go home on Monday
    and the final test will be given each Friday.
    4th grade word list- given by FISD curriculum
    department.
  • Spelling in Fourth Grade will include
  • Word Walls will include instant mastery words.
  • A daily word-building lesson
  • Suffixes
  • Students are encouraged to study their words
    every night.

Writing and Grammar
  • What is Six Traits Writing? Ideas, Voice,
    Organization, Sentence Fluency, Word Choice,
    Conventions.
  • The Writing Process will be used. Prewriting,
    Drafting, Revise/Edit, Publish.
  • Writing conventions will be integrated into
    writing instruction. There will be a daily
    grammar lesson and weekly assessments.

    his/her math facts. Please make sure your child
    is practicing and learning these facts.
