    a particular event/ events
  • Types in include epic, ballad, and romance

  • Epigram- short witty verse with a wry twist
  • Limerick- humorous verse form composed of 5 lines
  • Parody- poem in which another poets tone, form,
    or language is imitated

  • Italian sonnet has a rhyme scheme of abbaabba /
    cdecde variations are common in the cdecde
    section.
  • English sonnet has a rhyme scheme of abab / cdcd
    / efef / gg
  • Comprised of 14 lines with rhymes arranged
    according to a particular rhyme scheme.
  • Varies with type of sonnet
  • Types include Italian (Petrarchan), English
  • (Shakespearean)
