• One very ordinary day Mary was in the kitchen.
• The sun was shining in the window and onto
• the table where she was making bread. Mary
• felt happy.

• As she kneaded the bread, she hummed a song
• to herself. Then an unusual thing happened. She
  had turned around to get some more flour, when
  suddenly out of nowhere, an angel stood in the
  kitchen doorway. Mary jumped.

• The angel smiled, Mary, my name is Gabriel. Do
  not be afraid. I have news for you.

• I hope its good news, Mary said. Dont be
  afraid, its wonderful news, Gabriel replied.

• You are very special, Mary, and God loves you.
• You are going to have a baby a very special
• baby boy. His name will be Jesus. He will be
• Gods son.

• Mary was amazed. For a moment she didnt
• know what to say.

• I have more news for you, Mary, the angel
• said, your cousin Elizabeth is going to have a
• Baby too.

9

• Mary said, I know that God cares for me very
• much. I am glad that my cousin is also going to
• have a baby. I will do whatever God asks of me.

• The angel left and Mary continued baking.
