Policy Governance
  • In Policy Governance the Board (Conference
Executive) is responsible for the whole
organization but accomplishes this in two,
    distinct ways.
  • It creates a clear division of labour between the
Board and the Executive Director (Executive
    Secretary).
  • The Conference Executive decides upon the Ends,
    the goals to be achieved
  • It empowers the Executive Director to focuses on
the Means, how we will accomplish our goals,
    but within clear limitations

  • Ends describe what we would like the Conference
to look like because of the work that it does
  • Limitations

Policy Development
  • The process of clearly defining Ends can be quite
challenging, especially when keeping in mind our
    priorities for limited resources
  • Policies are reviewed and updated regularly to
ensure they represent the current goals and
    priorities of the church
  • The BC Executive is currently working on a new
version of the Ends document which will be
    clearer and easier to understand
  • The Executive plans to meet four times in the
coming year to finish this work soon
