What does the name sphinx mean?

• Some say that the sphinx means strangler
• Some call it the terrifying one
• Others say it means father of terror

When was the sphinx built?

• The sphinx has believed to be built in about
  2530bc.
• Other recent studies have shown that it was maybe
  built in 7000bc.

• The sphinxs location is in Giza, Necropolis that
  stands on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt.

Who built it and how old is it?

• Khafra (the famous Egyptian pharaoh) built the
  sphinx and it also looks just like him too.
• The sphinx is believed to be 4,500 years old.

What happened to the sphinx?

• The sphinx was damaged during the French
  occupation around the 1800s.

Was there another sphinx?

• There was another sphinx but, it was destroyed
  between 1000-1200 ad. And it was partly destroyed
  by a high Nile flood, then completely destroyed
  by ensuing Muslims cutting it off to rebuild
  their villages.
