  • Some psychologists teach psychology

Clinical Psychologists
  • Largest group of Psychologists
  • Help people with problems
  • Anxiety, depression, relationships or major
    disorders as well as drug abuse and weight
    control.
  • Evaluation of problems through interviews and
    tests
  • Help to identify and understand problem / change
    ineffective or harmful behaviors

Clinical Psychologists
  • Not to be confused with psychiatrists
  • Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can
    describe medication

Counseling Psychologists
  • Also use interviews and tests to identify
    problems
  • Vastly different problems than what clinical
    psychologists deal with
  • Family, career, or other relationship problems
  • Friends, teachers, etc.
  • Usually employed by businesses and schools

  • School psychologists help those who have problems
    that impede learning
  • May administer tests (achievement based)
  • Observe students in classroom and social settings
  • Weigh in on student placement
