1Personification of Abstract Nouns
2Figurative Language
- Figurative language presents ordinary things in
fresh new ways, communicating ideas that go
beyond words ordinary meanings.
3- Writers use figurative language to emphasize
ideas, evoke emotions, shape mood, and create
other effects. - PoetryYou probably recognize poetry when you see
it, even if you cant really explain what poetry
is. Poetry looks different than prose because it
is organized into lines instead of paragraphs.
When reading or writing a poem, you need to think
about the way the words look on the page, the way
the words sound together, and the images or
mental pictures, they create. The shapes, sounds,
and images in a poem work together to express the
poems meaning.
