Hypoactive Sexual Desire DysfunctionChronic lack
of interest in sexual activity

• Definition
• A persistent or recurrent deficieny or absence
  of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual
  activity that causes marked distress or
  interpersonal difficulty (Maclaran)
• Affects on Women
• Emotional Aspect stress, feeling inadequate,
  emotional condition (relationship problems, body
  image, cultural influences)
• Physical/Medical Aspect physical condition
  (fatigue, depression, anxiety) unsatisfied, may
  involve menopause, illness or pregnancy
• Treatment
• Medications like antidepressants have been shown
  to have an affect on a low sex drive.
• Counseling
• Hormone Therapy (in cause of menopause or
  imbalanced hormones)

Orgasmic Disorder

• The inability to reach orgasm by sexual
  stimulation marked by distress or interpersonal
  difficulty most commonly found in women who have
  never experienced an orgasm.

Causes

• Drugs and Alcohol
• Medical conditions that affect nerve supply to
  the pelvis
• Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, and
  Diabetic Neuropathy
• Hormone Disorders and Chronic Illnesses
• affect general sexual interest and health may be
  factors.
• May affect persons responsiveness
• Negative Attitudes towards sex in childhood,
  experiences with sexual abuse or rape.
• Marital Difficulties and low sexual desire
• Boredom, Monotony, Shyness in sexual activity
• When all this happens sex is not enjoyable, it
  can become a chore rather than a mutually
  satisfying, playful and intimate experience.

  or similar problems

• Feeling isolated or lonely
• Stress
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Treatment
• Psychotherapy
• Medication to control panic attacks
• Antidepressants

• Definition
• Uncontrolled and sometimes painful tightening of
  the pelvic floor muscles surrounding the vagina
• Causes
• Women do not have any control of these muscles
• Reaction to fear
• Anticipation of the pain
• Traumatic experiences
• Cannot relax pelvic region enough to allow entry.

• Tightening causes discomfort during sexual
  intercourse
