- Supervise Registration Officials

Announcer, and Tournament Director as needed - Verify individual results and calculate team
awards - Assist in issuing of awards as directed
8Making Up Brackets
- Elimination system(s) and weight classes will be
specified by Tournament Director in tournament
flyer - Weight classes might need to be adjusted,
especially in Masters and Juniors divisions - Choose right bracket for number of competitors in
each division - Enter competitors on bracket sheets
- Seeding vs. random draw
- Other issues
9Consolidating Divisions
- Usually no more than one age division OR weight
class difference (10 of body weight) allowed - Get proper approvals in writing (waivers)

- Use a Problem Sheet to keep track of problems,
solutions, and sign-offs
10Texas Match Card System
- Assign competitors to divisions
- Assign divisions to mats to have approximately
the same number of matches on each mat - For each mat, number all possible matches
sequentially - Skip byes
- Do first round in each division, then second
round in each division, etc. - Objective is to avoid down time on the mat and to
give each player max time between matches

14Supervising Bracket Keepers
- Insure that players advance along bracket sheets
properly - Insure that score table and center referee know
match length - Insure that center referee knows division (to
know if chokes and arm bars are allowed) - Insure there is no down time on the mat due to
improper staging of athletes - Act as liason to announcer
- Verify individual results and tabulate results
for team competitions and special awards

- Insure that there is no down time on the mat due
to improper staging of athletes - Insure that athletes are called properly
- Insure that match cards are being filled out
properly - Insure that match numbers are being incremented
properly - Insure that sashes are being issued properly
- Issues associated with blue gis
- Interaction with coaches and bracketkeeper
16Supervising Announcer
- Act as liason between athlete staging desk and
announcer to call late athletes - Bring announcer results as divisions are
completed - Act as liason to Tournament Director for opening
and closing ceremonies
17Table Supervisor
- Supervise Contest Timer, Osaekomi Timer, and
Scorekeeper - Make sure proper equipment is available
- Scoreboards, stop watches, flags, audible
devices, bean bags, etc. - Make sure workers are trained ahead of time
- Insure workers are following proper procedures
- Solve problems
- Interact with Head Referee, Bracket Keeper, and
Tournament Director as needed
18Supervising Time Keepers
- Interact with Bracket Keeper to make sure the
proper match time is being used - Pay special attention to insure that proper
procedures are being followed in unusual
situations - Osaekomi at end of match
- Two osaekomis in quick succession
- Medical exams
- Golden score
- Events that occur just as time expires
- Uncertain end to the match
- ippon waved off, protest, etc.
19Supervising Scorekeepers
- Pay special attention to insure that proper
procedures are being followed in unusual
situations - Penalties
- Referee waives off or changes a score
- Scorekeeper unsure who received the score
- Problems with coaches, parents, or players
- Medical exams

- Make sure scoreboard is not cleared until both
players have left the mat
