Opposing Wind and Current
  • When wind and current are opposing the boat can
    jibe around the mooring
  • Avoid this situation by sailing off the mooring
using the jib only, come head-to-wind and haul up
    the mainsail.

Mooring Procedures
  • Departing
  • Make sure your dinghy is properly secured
  • Dinghy location consider wind, current, shore
  • Drift clear of the mooring and dinghy, using the
jib to backwind and control direction. Reverse
    steer with tiller
  • When current and wind are opposing, consider a
    jib only departure
  • Avoid snagging the mooring and dinghy lines.
Consider keeping centerboard in a partial down
    position

39
Mooring Procedures
  • Arriving
  • Reduce speed but maintain control (lower jib if
    necessary)
  • Be ready to lower jib and main (crank handy?),
    uncleat sheets
  • Assign mooring crew to the bow
  • Be ready to take another pass at the mooring if
youre speed is too slow or too fast
  • Mooring crew yells secure , sails come down,
    centerboard comes up.
