Step One Brainstorming Thesis
  1. Brainstorm at least twelve directly cited
    examples from George Orwells novel 1984 that
    will clearly support your topic. Each example
    must be at least two sentences in length.
    Indicate who said it and what page its on.
  2. Circle at least 9 examples that best support your
    topic. Then, group your examples into two or
    three clusters.
  3. Working from your brainstorm and topic, state
    your thesis in one sentence
  4. Revise your thesis until it clearly states your
    objective as a writer
  5. Now, in 100 words or more, write a reflective
    journal entry on that theme. (Use for intro)
  6. Finally, write your formal outline
