Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord?
Saul said to Samuel, "But I have obeyed the
voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on
which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag
king of Amalek I have utterly destroyed the
Amalekites. But the people took of the plunder,
sheep and oxen, the best of the things which
should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice
to the Lord your God in Gilgal." Behold, to
obey is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 1519-23

  • The Rich Young Man

He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, "'You
shall not murder,' 'You shall not commit
adultery,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not
bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your
mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.' " The young man said to Him, "All
these things I have kept from my youth. What do I
still lack?" Jesus said to him, "If you want to
be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to
the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven
and come, follow Me." (Matthew 1916-22)

  • The Goodness and Severity of God

Therefore consider the goodness and severity of
God on those who fell, severity but toward you,
goodness, if you continue in His goodness.
Otherwise you also will be cut off. (Romans
1122)

  • Gospel Preaching

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of
season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all
longsuffering and teaching. For the time will
come when they will not endure sound doctrine,
but according to their own desires, because they
have itching ears, they will heap up for
themselves teachers and they will turn their
ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to
fables. (2 Tim. 42-4)
