Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus says
4
Blessed are the poor sure in spirit.
Satan says
  • But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says,
God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to
    the humble. (James 46)
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith
and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of
God not as a result of works, that no one should
    boast. (Ephesians 28-9)

5
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be
comforted.
Jesus says
6
Blessed are those who mourn scorn.
Satan says
  • seared in their own conscience as with a
    branding iron, (1 Timothy 42)
  • Know this first of all, that in the last days
mockers will come with their mocking, following
after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the
promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers
fell asleep, all continues just as it was from
the beginning of creation. (2 Peter 33-4)

7
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the
earth.
Jesus says
8
Blessed are the meek weak.
Satan says
  • This I say therefore, and affirm together with
the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the
Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their
mind, being darkened in their understanding,
excluded from the life of God, because of the
ignorance that is in them, because of the
hardness of their heart) and they, having become
callous, have given themselves over to
sensuality, for the practice of every kind of
    impurity with greediness. (Ephesians 417-19)

9
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Jesus says
10
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness their rights.
Satan says
  • promising them freedom while they themselves are
slaves of corruption for by what a man is
overcome, by this he is enslaved. (2 Peter 219)
  • Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave
room for the wrath of God, for it is written,
Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.
    (Romans 1219)

11
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive
mercy.
Jesus says
12
Blessed are the merciful merciless.
Satan says
  • So shall My heavenly Father also do to you, if
each of you does not forgive his brother from
    your heart. (Matthew 1835)

13
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall
see God.
Jesus says
14
Blessed are the pure poor in heart.
Satan says
  • Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from
envy and strife, but some also from good will
the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am
appointed for the defense of the gospel the
former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition,
rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause
me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only
that in every way, whether in pretense or in
truth, Christ is proclaimed and in this I
rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice. (Philippians
    115-18)

15
  • I can do all things through Him who strengthens
    me. (Philippians 413)
  • Our mouth has spoken freely to you, O
Corinthians, our heart is opened wide. You are
not restrained by us, but you are restrained in
your own affections. Now in a like exchangeI
speak as to childrenopen wide to us also. (2
    Corinthians 611-13)

16
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be
called sons of God.
Jesus says
17
Blessed are the peacemakers piece makers.
Satan says
  • Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those
who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to
the teaching which you learned, and turn away
    from them. (Romans 1617)
  • For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where
there is no whisperer, contention quiets down.
    (Proverbs 2620)

18
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for
the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
Jesus says
19
Blessed are those who are persecuted praised for
the sake of righteousness.
Satan says
  • Beware of practicing your righteousness before
men to be noticed by them otherwise you have no
reward with your Father who is in heaven.
    (Matthew 61)
  • And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled and
whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.
    (Matthew 2312)
