5CSU Preparation

graduation.) - Test Scores (SAT/ACT)
- Academic GPA (10th-12th)
- Eligibility Index (2900-3200 SAT or 694-760 ACT)
Remember! All admission is provisional, until
verification of final transcript.
6Fall 2011 Selection
- Impaction SJSU receives applications from more
eligible students than there is space for.
Therefore, meeting the minimum requirements may
not be enough to gain admission to SJSU. -
All SJSU majors are impacted Selection is moderately competitive. The pool of applicants determines the level of competition. SJSU will admit students only in sufficient numbers to meet the individual majors total capacity. SJSU will rank students on GPA and test scores.
7Local vs. Non-Local Admission Areas
- LOCAL Graduating from Santa Clara County HS
- NON-LOCAL Graduating from HS outside of Santa
Clara County
- LOCAL Guaranteed offer of provisional admission
to the university with minimum CSU eligibility,
however admission to major of choice is not
guaranteed. - NON-LOCAL Admission is offered to non-local
applicants based on the overall space available
in their major.

9Fall 2011 Appeals
- SJSU reviews each applicant's record thoroughly
in the admission process and admission decisions
are rarely reversed. The admissions process is
completely objective, based on each applicant's
self-reported academic qualifications on the CSU
Application for Admission and official
transcripts and test scores received by published
deadlines. - SJSU does not set aside space in our class for
students who appeal admission decisions. Every
denied application has been reviewed for maximum
consideration. Therefore, for an appeal to have
merit, it must bring to light new academic
information (send official documentation of new
information to eval_at_sjsu.edu). Grades received in
the current academic year are not a basis for an
appeal or the reversal of a decision. - SJSU does not consider appeals to missed
deadlines, no matter how compelling the
circumstances.
