Purpose of Study
  • To measure the economic benefits derived by
Northern New York residents and governments from
the dollars spent in the region by tourists.

6
What is Economic Impact?
  • Begins when a visitor spends any amount of money
    on a product/service
  • Direct Impact - used to earn income, pay wages
    taxes
  • Indirect Impact earned used by employees
    businesses to make additional purchases

7
What is a Tourist?
  • Anyone who visits the area while traveling
outside of their normal routine and spends money.
  • If someone is staying here for more than 30 days
or in contracted lodging, they are not considered
    a tourist.

8
How was the study done?
  • Bottom Up Approach

    are here.
