  • While total Technical Textile production in the
    world is about
  • 150 billion USD for the year 2011,
  • Turkey produces only a small portion of this
    ever-increasing value-added product segment of
    textile business.

  • Turkey realized an annual export of about 1.6
    billion USD of Technical Textile goods for the
    same year.Only 40 million USD worth of goods
    exported are in the form of Personal Protection
    Equipment.For the year 2012,we foresee an
    increase of 10 in the export of PPE.

  • This percentage will increase by the time more
    Turkish manufacturers get international coverall
    uniform certificates (like EN 469) for various
    countries in addition to FR fabric certificates.

    NASA.

  • 1- The fabric must be as light as possible since
    soldiers have to carry heavy personal equipment
    and weapons in hot-climate areas.

  • 2- The fabric must be breathable which means
    that it must allow moisture transfer from inside
    and at the same time it must prevent cold, rain
    or snow from penetrating the uniform.
  • In order to accomplish both of these
    features, you must laminate a breathable
    membrane at the back-side of the fabric.

  • 3- The fabric must be flame-retardant so that it
    will not burn. The fiber used for the fabric must
    not be thermoplastic so that it will not melt and
    stick to the body causing fatal injuries.

  • 4- The fabric must be made of strong fibers so
    that the uniform will have a high breaking
    and tearing strength .

  • 5- The fabric must be water-oil and soil
    repellent on the outer surface so that it wont
    get wet and will be easy to clean.

Using nano-particles, the fabric must clean
itself. This can be done by impregnating the
fabric with nano-chemicals.

  • In choosing the right fibers, blend
    percentages of the fibers, chemicals used for
    treatment must not conflict with each another.
  • Finding the right fibers at the right blend
    percentages, and chemicals require a
    time-consuming RD work which sometimes take
    years.
