• Health insurance program for
• People 65 years of age and older
• Some people with disabilities
• People with End-stage Renal Disease
• Administered by Centers for Medicare Medicaid
  Services (CMS)
• Enrollment handled by the Social Security
  Administration or Railroad Retirement Board

Initial Enrollment

• 7 month window
• When does Medicare start?
• Birthday on 1st of the month
• Automatic if already receiving SS or RR benefits

• Employer group policy.
• Part A at 65
