    established an interagency environmental
    management team that focused on
  • - Testing studied life-cycle environmental
    impacts and pollution prevention considerations
    and incorporated them into the design
  • - Manufacturing developed the first halon-free
    crew explosion protection system that
    eliminates many uses of cadmium and chromium
  • - Operations a design that catches spent shell
    casings and that also traps fluids that were
    released to the environment in other combat
    vehicles
  • - Disposal reduced hazardous materials use in
    the design, manufacturing, and operations
    processes
