2Step 1
- Go into LiveText under My Work Tab
- Choose NEW
- Note every time you create something new this
is the process to follow. You can create a
project, an assessment, a lesson plan whatever
you want to put into LiveText.
3Creating a Rubric select new
4Step 2 Need to identify folder to store rubric
and type of assessment template you will choose.
5Step 3 When you choose your template the
components will appear on right. If you do not
like the choice before you save you can select a
different template.
6Step 4 Select the template type and provide a
name and description.
7Step 5 Check document components on right. If
the template identifies the components you want,
then click on Save as New Document.
8Step 6 Click on Edit button to enter in text,
standards, and rubric information.
9Step 7 Describe assessment by entering info in
the text box of the Text Image section. You can
even paste in information from another document
and you can attach a document or an image into
this section.
10Step 8 Select standards from a list of
pre-populated standards. Choose Add tab.
11Step 9 Use pull down menu to select standards
aligned to the assignment the rubric will
evaluate.
12Step 10 By clicking on the box to the left of
the standard and then choosing the Add Standards
tab, the chosen standards will be included in
your standards list.
Note if there are multiple pages of standards
you will have to complete step 10 for each page
of standards. If you go through all of the pages,
selecting the standards you want, without hitting
the Add Standards button before you leave the
page, only the last page of selected standards
will be saved.
13Step 11 Review selection then choose Save

15Step 12 Choose Edit to begin creating the
Rubric.
16Step 13 Choose scoring level

17Step 13a When choosing a scoring level turn to
your professional association to guide the
selection. NCATE uses a 3 point rubric to score
submissions Target, Acceptable, Unacceptable.
18Step 13b Identify criteria and scoring weight.
Be sure name clearly describes the element. You
can always adjust weight once entire rubric
created.
19Step 13c The standards you selected for the
rubric can be tied to the scoring criteria by
clicking on standard number in the Available
Standards column and clicking on the add
button. They will now appear with the element to
be scored.
20Step 13d Click in the box to enter in the
descriptors for scoring criteria.
21Step 14 Review completed rubric.
Note Rubric can now be used for scoring
assignments. See tutorial on how to add an
assignment to LiveText.
