How To Add Monomials?

1. Write in a vertical column.
2. Add the numerical coefficients.
3. Bring down the literal parts.

In adding monomials, only similar terms can be
added or subtracted. For dissimilar terms
either operation cannot be performed but can only
be indicated. The terms may also be arranged
and added or subtracted then the terms are
combined.
