27Managing hybrid canopies
- Same concepts apply as in vinifera but
different practices are required to achieve a
balanced, open canopy - Choose training system and CM practices based on
growth habit (upright vs. procumbent),
anticipated vigor, site, and growing season - Dont undercrop! (But dont overcrop).
Calculate cropload on 5 sentinel vines per acre. - ST and CT if needed (often on vigorous hybrids)
