Commanders Corner Our Fish Fry, Friday Nite dance
and the Chili Cook-off events in February were
all a great success. The Auxiliary MARDI GRAS
was fantastic. Please check your calendar for
our March events. Our Officers and volunteers
work very hard to make these events a success.
Please come out and show your appreciation for
the volunteers who work very hard to make these
events a success for our Post and for our
members. We will have an Initiation Ceremony on 9
March at 1800. Please come and help us welcome
our new members into the Post. Also please help
us welcome Jim Herd as the newest kitchen Chef.
We look forward to working with him. The
American Legion is not just a bar it is a
Veterans organization with a responsibility to
ourselves, our community and to our families who
depend on us. When we join an organization we
make a commitment to abide by the bylaws and
rules of that organization. We also make a
commitment for the greater good of the American
Legion. Our General Membership meetings are on
the 2nd Tuesday and the Executive Board meetings
are on the 4th Tuesday of each month. All
members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Problems cannot be resolved via grape vines and
emails. Instead of taking 30 minutes to voice
your opinion at the bar or writing an email
debasing our officers, managers and volunteers do
something positive and become a viable member of
our Post. For God and Country, Marsha Martin
1st Vice Commander We have had 969 members pay
their dues, which gives us an attained percentage
of 82. We need 207 members to pay their dues to
reach 100. Our next Department of Florida Goal
is 90, which is needed by March 3, 2010. I know
we can do it. Please welcome our new members
Patrick Sprague, Rachel Robardey, Hope Booth,
Michael Fennewald, Noah Lee Sarvis, Drew Deason,
Michael Maciag, Kathryn Adams, Jeffery Lee Cain,
Michael Thompson and New Transfers into Post 240
Charles Newton and Joseph McNiel. Your Post
Officers conducted an inventory of the Lounge
last month and cleaned out the Pink Elephant
where we repaired old tables and bar chairs. We
need volunteers to help with these endeavors that
save our Post money. I would like to start a
Post Cleanup day starting in April. I need help
setting this up. Please come out and support
your Post and Lounge. We, the Post Officers cant
do anything for the Post or the Veterans without
your support and help. Jimmy Lee Martin
