THE PHILOSOPHY
Fabindia encourages the development of new
products that cater to the contemporary needs of
customers, while supporting and in some cases
even fostering the age-old traditions of India's
craftspeople. .

Historical Perspective
1958 Mr. John Bissell arrives in India 1960
Fabindia Inc established Founding share-holders

Fabindia School
The Fabindia school was established in the
village of Bali, Rajasthan by Mr. John Bissell
Mr. William Bissell Starting with 11 students
the school today has about 1000 students. Apart
from the school in Bali, Fabindia has also Opened
satellite schools in Nana (103 students),
Bijapur (26 students), Lunawa (17 students),
and Mundara (24 students) The school strongly
supports equality for girls and they hold many
leadership positions here. It also stresses
environmental education, and teaches students to
take pride in their local heritage. The school
has been affiliated to the CBSE, Delhi since 1997
and has consistently produced good results. The
John Bissell Scholars Fund was established in
2000 in memory of John Bissell. Its purpose is to
support scholarships for female students who now
comprise nearly half the student body.

MAKING INDIA WORK
The book was launched on 21 August, 2009 and was
made available at some of the Fabindias retail
outlets. By Dec 09, almost 4000 copies of the
same were sold.

50 YEARS OF FABINDIA
Fabindia completed 50 years in 2010. This
event was celebrated along with the opening
ceremony of the new Head Office on 4 January,
2010. The new office was inaugurated by Mrs. Bim
Bissell. Mrs. Charu Sharma cut the cake marking
50 years of the company.
