28Added stressors
- Due to the growing number of teens and young
adults with Intellectual Disabilities, SCs must
prepare for transition into the community and
workforce. This challenge is further complicated
by the fact that there is a lack of funding
available to provide the necessary supports.
This often leaves those who graduate sitting at
home watching television.
2961 of CMP DS consumers are 30 years of age and
under.In F.Y. 09/10, CMP had 61new intakes.
Largest Group 267 11-20 year olds.
30The Waiting List
- The counties estimate that there are
approximately 1,600 people who will present as
unanticipated emergencies in the next 6 months,
this includes graduates from the special
education system and children leaving the CYS RTF
settings - It is estimated by the PA waiting list campaign
that there are over 16,000 people waiting for
services
31Waiting list continued.
- Support Coordinators are the front line of
professionals who intimately know the waiting
list consumers and families and advocate for
these people
