why we were funded

• Broadband access to internet through portable
  devices has become commonplace
• Smart mobile phones are relatively inexpensive,
  fast becoming a ubiquitous presence in our
  students daily lives
• Majority of our students take their phones with
  them wherever they go
• Instead of viewing mobile devices as a disruptive
  presence, educators today should seek to exploit
  their potential.

  to instructional materials, via ip and also using
  pre-loaded content

• -- before this grant has expired we have gone
  already far beyond the original exploration --

The Study

• Build an interim Infrastructure to support mobile
  learning
• Make mobile devices available to students
• Via self reporting, also via comparative studies,
  examine the potential for mobile learning at HCC
• Learn what is effective and what is not
• Help position HCC to exploit if found effective
• Disseminate study results

Anticipating the involvement of others

  to devices, still 100 wireless mode
• Needed updates to the interim delivery platform
