• Math
• The students will have their first math test this
  week on Wednesday, September 5th. A study
  guide/homework will be sent home on Tuesday
  reinforcing the skills that were taught over the
  past two weeks. The study guide/homework mimics
  the test so it is essential for all students to
  work through the homework on Tuesday evening with
  their parents. I have again listed key ideas
  below to help parents and students for the
  upcoming test.Standard Form 9,067 (digits

  (place value)The students will also be asked to
  find numbers in a missing pattern. Remind your
  child to start with the thousands place, then the

• Social Studies
• We will begin to explore how to read both
  political and physical maps this week. The
  students will also learn the purpose of a map
  key(legend) and how to interpret symbols and
  directionality on various maps.

• What a wonderful long and enjoyable weekend!
  I hope everyone got to spend some time with both
  their friends and family! As we move into the
  third week of school, please check your childs
  planner nightly for important homework
  assignments and messages. The students will have
  homework on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  night of this upcoming week.

• Reading As we finish up with Allies Basketball
  Dream on Tuesday, the students will have their
  first reading test on Wednesday, September 5th.
  A very important piece of homework will be sent
  home on Tuesday afternoon explaining what is
  expected from students on their reading test(s).
  A rubric will also be sent home explaining how
  extended response questions will be graded. We
  will practice writing extended responses in class
  on Tuesday. Understanding this tremendous skill
  in reading/writing is crucial for success on the
  reading Ohio Achievement Assessment, which the
  third grade students will take this fall and
  again in the early spring.SpellingThe students
  will have their spelling test over Unit 3 on
  Friday, September 7th. A spelling word search
  will again be sent home on Tuesday. Please study
  these words throughout the week with your child.
