1WERE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT!
2- The wind trio Gael Force Winds (members of the
Scottish Chamber Orchestra) came to Sanday School
to work with the children on a short musical
production based on the book Were Going on a
Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen.
3- The Nursery children were asked to create artwork
based on some of the themes described in the book
- so.
4We set off on a Bear Hunt which lasted for 4
weeks!!!
5UH-UH! GRASS!LONG WAVY GRASS.
6We took digital video and stills cameras to film
the dune grass at Backaskaill Bay.
7Some grass was sharp.
8Some grass was spiky, like a hedgehog.
9Some grass was scruffy.
10Some grass was making crosses.
11Is that a bear hiding in the grass?
12Swishy swashy.
13It was a beautiful day!
14When we got back to Nursery we made a grass
collage.
15We took turns to use the trimmer to cut the paper
strips.

17We used lots of glue to stick the strips in place.
18Sometimes the paper did not stick where we wanted
it to!
19We put our collage and photographs on display.

We looked at the painting WHEAT FIELD WITH
CROWS by Vincent Van Gogh
21We projected part of the image onto a large sheet
of paper and used finger paints to copy it.

24We were very proud of our finished painting!

(including FULL FATHOM FIVE). - We thought that they looked like splashes of mud.

pipette to squirt black paint onto the paper,
then we dragged string through the paint.

clean to begin with
