Regulatory body
Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Committee (KAEC) is part
of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
of Kazakhstan and as the regulatory body in
Kazakhstan is responsible for supervision of
nuclear and radiation safety, and the nuclear
weapon non-proliferation regime. KAEC issued the
regulations (rules, requirements, provisions
etc.) in the field of atomic energy use.

Key Provisions of the KAEC Role

• Setting of the criteria and norms, working out
  the regulations on nuclear and radiation safety,
  and also control on the meeting of these norms
  and regulations by the enterprises, authorities
  and organisations irrespective on their governing
  bodies and property forms, and by persons
• Carrying out of state account and control of
  nuclear materials, radioactive sources and waste
  and control on their storage and usage
• Working out of proposals on establishing of
  necessary legislative and organization conditions
  for effective maintenance of the enterprises and
  organizations of atomic energy
• International scientific, technical, and
  legislative co-operation in the field of safety
  of atomic energy and nuclear technologies usage
