• ITU-T initiate global contributions for
  mitigating Climate Change
• Followings are key summary of actions will lead
  by ITU-T
• ITU-T is focusing on reduction of power
  requirements of telecommunication equipment
• Promising technologies for improving energy
  efficiency are radio-frequency identification
  (RFID) and sensors ITU-T has established a
  Joint Coordination Activity" in this area
• ITU is active in the field of intelligent
  transport systems which can help to reduce carbon
  emissions e.g., by reducing congestion

Challenges

• Need globally Integrated Standards for Vehicle
  Gateway Platform (VGP)
• ITU-T launched a new project for VGP in SG 16
  collaborating with related activities
  "From/In/To Cars Communication II", ITU-R ITS,
  ISO, etc.

Next Steps/Actions

• ITU-T SG 16 set up Ad Hoc for ITS to initiate
  development of frameworks for ITS supporting
  following target roadmap
