with gods.
  1. Greeks told vivid tales of the gods sometimes
    showed them as cruel or selfish.
  2. The gods had both divine (magical) and human
    qualities.
  3. The gods were powerful, but also had human
    emotions.
  4. Each city had a god or goddess to protect it.
  5. Greeks created myths that explained how the gods
    created their world.

gods.
  • The Greeks created statues built temples in
    honor of their gods / goddesses.
  • Certain days were set aside each month for
    various gods goddesses.
  • Festivals were held and included a procession (or
    parade), athletic games, and poetry recitals.
  • The Olympics were held to honor Zeus.

poems and fables.
  1. Epic poems are stories passed down through
    generations in the form of a long poem.
  2. The most famous epic poems were written by Homer.
    They are the Iliad and the Odyssey. They are
    about the Trojan War a warriors 10-year trip
    home.
  3. Fables are short stories usually involving
    animals that teach a moral lesson.
  4. Aesop is best known for writing The Hare the
    Tortoise.
