Settling into school
  • We hope that your child has already settled into
the new routines, and they are happy with the day
    to day organisation.
  • The children are now becoming aware of the
    increasing expectations.
  • We aim to support and nurture them in developing
their own individual skills and talents.

3
The Curriculum.
  • The three terms each focus on a specific topic.
  • During the Autumn term the children study the
History topic What was it like for children in
    the Second World War?
  • In this unit children find out about the effects
of the Second World War on children in their
    local area, nationally and internationally.
School trip a visit to Manchester Imperial War
    Museum (02/10/13).
  • Children should learn - When and where WW2 took
place. Leaders and key events and dates of the
war. The characteristic features of the Blitz and
what type of area was most likely to be affected.
To locate where bombing raids took place. The
effects of air raids. The causes of evacuation.
The experiences and feelings of evacuees (Evacuee
Day). To communicate their learning in an
organised and structured way, using appropriate
terminology. Why rationing was necessary. The
impact of rationing on the way of life of people
living in England during WW2. An overview of how
the war affected people's everyday lives about

during the war, their courage and resilience.
