• 1. Hierarchy
• System of ranks, from important to least
  important
• Think of it as a pyramid, less on top, more on
  bottom
• 2. Accessibility
• How easy it is to reach a place
• Mostly deals with transportation and physical
  barriers to transportation
• 3. Complementarity
• The closer things are, the more likely they will
  interactthe further things are, the less likely
  they will interact (movement)
• 4. Diffusion
• The spread of people, ideas and things in certain
  directions over a period of time
