Definition of NGN and IPTV
2. Requirements from NGN/IPTV
Definition of NGN
a packet-based network able to provide
telecommunication services and able to make use
of multiple broadband, QoS-enabled transport
technologies and in which service-related
functions are independent from underlying
transport-related technologies. It enables
unfettered access for users to networks and to
competing service providers and/or services of
their choice. It supports generalized mobility
which will allow consistent and ubiquitous
provision of services to users.
Definition of IPTV
IPTV is defined as multimedia services such as
television/video/ audio/text/graphics/data
delivered over IP based networks managed to
provide the required level of QoS/QoE, security,
interactivity and reliability
6
Important Requirements from NGN and IPTV
2. Requirements from NGN/IPTV
  • Support broadband enough for TV, video, audio,
    text, graphics and Data
  • Support Packet based transport (including IP and
    others)
  • Support QoS/QoE enabled capabilities
  • Support Security, Interactivity and Reliability
    in managed way
  • Support multiple broadband with unfettered
    access features
  • Support transport agnostic features for services
  • Support generalized mobility and ubiquitous
    provision of services
  • Support competition to service providers and/or
    services

Requirements
IP enabled multiple managed Broadband Accesses
supporting Multimedia over Convergences (e.g.
FMC, Tele-Broadcasting etc.)

NGN a Convergence Platform
4. NGN enables convergences
  • Combination IP with Broadband accelerating
    intrinsic convergence
  • Service convergence Web based service
