Single Line Progressive System Basic Features
  • Description
  • System distributes grease using progressive
    feeder valves
  • Hydrostatically sealed spools output metered
    lubricant
  • Output is a function of back pressure and pump
    flow
  • Proportional distribution of lubricant
  • Sequential feeding of lube points
  • Operating pressure range
  • 10 200 bar
  • Metered quantities
  • 0.08 3.6 cc
  • Viscosity range oil and fluid grease (20cSt
    NLGI 3)

4
Progressive System Layout
Compared to piston distributors, progressive
feeders do not operate in strokes they deliver
the amount delivered by the pump divided into the
number and size of the pistons. They operate one
after the other in a feeder.
5
Family of Progressive Feeders
Typical applications - oil circulating
systems for presses - transfer lines
- conveyors/chains - material handling -
parts washer - etc.
6
Operating Principle (VP VPK Series Prog.
Feeders)
Piston 4 is under pressure piston 1 delivers
lubricant to the outlet. Piston movement of 1
/ 4 opened connection between main line and
piston 5
Piston 5 is pressurized and piston 2 delivers
lubricant to outlet 2a.

PSG Modular Feeder Technology
  • Variable quantity per outlet from 0.004 - 0.2 cu.
    in.
  • Blind elements for expansion or removal of
    segments
  • Solid base plate construction-minimizing number
of sealing elements-and consequently number of
potential leakage points. Also, eliminates over
    tightening concerns of segmented block
    construction, which creates leakage. REMEMBER
Leakage in the block construction eliminates the
    monitoring feature of a progressive
feeder-blocked line. That is, a blocked line
cannot be detected if the seals associated with
    that outlet are leaking.

17
PSG Modular Feeder Technology
  • Integrated check valves on every outlet
  • ISO 228-1179 SAE ports standard
  • 10 mm / 3/8 tube accessible on outlet
  • Check valves integrated into fittings with
    elastomeric seals
  • Integrated bleed ports
  • Captive O rings. There are 81 loose o-rings in
our competitors design. The PSG has Zero.
Imagine the possibility of pinching or loosing an
    o-ring in during assembly.

18
PSG Modular Feeder Technology
  • Common Metering elements-Conversion of Twin to
    Single accomplished is base plate
  • Solid state piston sensing proximity switch
  • Integrated filter possible
  • Integral flow control valves are available-
fixed and adjustable- optical or electrical
    feedback- pressure compensating- gear wheel
    flow control possible

Zoned Progressive System
  • Instead of the whole system only zones,
controlled areas by solenoid valves are supplying
    lubricant.
  • The controller runs the zones in a configured
    order for a defined time.

Single Line Progressive Systems
Advantages Rugged, versatile design Modular construction is possible Low cost monitoring of spool movement Disadvantages System design, layout and installation time and material intensive Field alterations of system are difficult Metering is a function of back pressure and velocity Low volume metering is not reliable Installation is costly Minimum volume still large for total loss MTBF studies would indicate low up-time (multiplication factor) Series system Susceptible to air locks Additional possible leakage points
