Title: Do you fear to answer Bible questions?

1
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • No one should in pride seek to display their
knowledge to be seen by men!

2
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • No one should in pride seek to display their
knowledge to be seen by men!
  • It is possible to have knowledge by not have a
right kind of heart. (1 Cor 81-3)

3
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • 1 Corinthians 81-3 (NKJV) - Now concerning
things offered to idols We know that we all have
knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
2And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he
knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 3But if
anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.

4
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • Knowledge is not all there is to serving God. (1
    Tim 24 2 Tim 37)

5
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • 1 Timothy 24 (NKJV) - who desires all men to be
saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

6
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • 2 Timothy 37 (NKJV) - always learning and never
able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

7
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • We as Christians should welcome Bible questions
    and Bible answers.

8
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • We as Christians should welcome Bible questions
    and Bible answers.
  • What if you do not know? You will study and find
    the answer! (Mt 44)

9
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • Matthew 44 (NKJV) - But He answered and said,
It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceeds from the
    mouth of God.

10
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • What if the Bible contradicts my beliefs? Repent
and teach others! (1 Jn 25)

11
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • 1 John 25 (NKJV) - But whoever keeps His word,
truly the love of God is perfected in him. By
this we know that we are in Him.

12
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • Some fear questions because they are sensitive
    about some things. (Gal 110)

13
Do you fear to answer Bible questions?
  • Galatians 110 (NKJV) - For do I now persuade
men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I
still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant
    of Christ.

14
Can the church be found in history?
  • I. If the Church of Christ is the one true
church, then where was from 350 A.D the start of
the Roman Catholic Church to 1840 the
Stone/Campbell restoration? Does not Jesus say we
are salt and light a shining city on a hill? So I
will not accept the "They were underground" cop
    out.

15
Can the church be found in history?
  • What is the one true church?

16
Can the church be found in history?
  • The one true church is not a denomination but a
description of all saved people in their
relationship to the head, Jesus Christ. (Eph
    122-23)

17
Can the church be found in history?
  • Ephesians 122-23 (NKJV) - And He put all things
under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all
things to the church, 23 which is His body, the
fullness of Him who fills all in all.

18
Can the church be found in history?
  • Those who are forgiven and have Jesus as their
head are in this church or body. (Eph
    44-6, 1 Cor 1213)

19
Can the church be found in history?
  • Ephesians 44-6 (NKJV) - There is one body and
one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope
of your calling 5one Lord, one faith, one
baptism 6one God and Father of all, who is above
all, and through all, and in you all.

20
Can the church be found in history?
  • 1 Corinthians 1213 (NKJV) - For by one Spirit we
were all baptized into one bodywhether Jews or
Greeks, whether slaves or freeand have all been
made to drink into one Spirit.

21
Can the church be found in history?
  • Has the one true church always existed since
    the 1st century?

22
Can the church be found in history?
  • Has the one true church always existed since
    the 1st century?
  • The seed that produces the church has always
    existed (Lk 811, Mt 2435)

23
Can the church be found in history?
  • Luke 811 (NKJV) - Now the parable is this The
seed is the word of God.

24
Can the church be found in history?
  • Matthew 2435 (NKJV) - Heaven and earth will pass
away, but My words will by no means pass away.

25
Can the church be found in history?
  • It is likely then that have always been
    Christians alive on the earth.

26
Can the church be found in history?
  • It is likely then that have always been
    Christians alive on the earth.

27
Can the church be found in history?
  • It is likely then that have always been
    Christians alive on the earth.
  • Must I prove this from history?

28
Can the church be found in history?
  • Some churches claim apostolic succession as
    proof they are from God.

29
Can the church be found in history?
  • Some churches claim apostolic succession as
    proof they are from God.
  • Nowhere does the Bible suggest this or demand
that Christians prove this as a sign that
    they are genuine.

30
Can the church be found in history?
  • Some churches claim apostolic succession as
    proof they are from God.
  • Nowhere does the Bible suggest this or demand
that Christians prove this as a sign that
    they are genuine.
  • Outside of Judas replacement and then Paul, there
    were no other apostles.

31
Can the church be found in history?
  • Paul recognized that his situation was unusual
and that the apostles would not have
    successors. (1 Cor 157-8 49)

32
Can the church be found in history?
  • 1 Corinthians 157-8 (NKJV) - After that He was
seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8Then
last of all He was seen by me also, as by one
    born out of due time.

33
Can the church be found in history?
  • 1 Corinthians 49 (NKJV) - For I think that God
has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men
condemned to death for we have been made a
spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.

34
Can the church be found in history?
  • Since there were no eyewitnesses since this time,
there could be no future apostles. (Acts
    121-22)

35
Can the church be found in history?
  • Since there were no eyewitnesses since this time,
there could be no future apostles. (Acts
    121-22)
  • See the article A Few Make History.

36
Can the church be found in history?
  • We have the foundation of the Apostles and
prophets in the Bible itself. (Eph 219-21)

37
Can the church be found in history?
  • We have the foundation of the Apostles and
prophets in the Bible itself. (Eph 219-21)
  • What is your attitude towards the apostles? (1 Jn
    41, 6)

38
Can the church be found in history?
  • 1 John 41 (NKJV)- Beloved, do not believe every
spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of
God because many false prophets have gone out
    into the world.

39
Can the church be found in history?
  • 1 John 46 (NKJV) - We are of God. He who knows
God hears us he who is not of God does not hear
us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the
    spirit of error.

40
Can the church be found in history?
  • Any churches claiming the Bible indentifies them?

41
Bible Authority and Music
  • In Ephesians 519 and in Colossians 316 we that
asks both churches to sing Psalms hymns spiritual
songs. That being said, and with John Hearing
harps played in Heaven in Revelation. I Can not
see how based on 2 passages both dealing with how
to treat one another is the soul basis for
    forbidding instrumental music.

42
Bible Authority and Music
  • Now I understand the philosophy of Stone and
Campbell was to speak where the bible speaks and
silent where it is silent, however, are we not to
follow the teachings of Jesus and not men?

43
Bible Authority and Music
  • Also, if you follow this out then you must greet
each other with a holy kiss anoint the sick with
oil and have the Elders pray over them and pick
up snakes and drink poison, just to name a few
that stand out as possible commandments, So why
base a church tradition on such a foundation?

44
Bible Authority and Music
  • By the way I was always under the impression that
we as Christians want to stay away from man made
traditions and sick with what the bible says.

45
Bible Authority and Music
  • Must we have authority from God for everything we
do we have the right to act when God is
silent? Look at the repeated, emphatic response
    of Jesus!

46
Bible Authority and Music
  • Jesus whole life was focused on doing the will
of the Father who sent Me. (Jn
    519-21, 30)

47
Bible Authority and Music
  • John 519-21 (NKJV) - Then Jesus answered and
said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, the
Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees
the Father do for whatever He does, the Son also
    does in like manner.

48
Bible Authority and Music
  • 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him
all things that He Himself does and He will show
Him greater works than these, that you may
marvel. 21For as the Father raises the dead and
gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to
    whom He will.

49
Bible Authority and Music
  • John 530 (NKJV) - I can of Myself do nothing. As
I hear, I judge and My judgment is righteous,
because I do not seek My own will but the will of
    the Father who sent Me.

50
Bible Authority and Music
  • There was not a single thing Jesus did without
    the fellowship and authority of
    the Father. (Jn 828-29)

51
Bible Authority and Music
  • John 828-29 (NKJV) - Then Jesus said to them,
When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will
know that I am He, and that I do nothing of
Myself but as My Father taught Me, I speak these
things. 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The
Father has not left Me alone, for I always do
    those things that please Him.

52
Bible Authority and Music
  • Jesus expects us to have the same attitude
towards His word as He did to the Fathers
    word. (Jn 1248-50)

53
Bible Authority and Music
  • John 1248-50 (NKJV) - He who rejects Me, and
does not receive My words, has that which judges
himthe word that I have spoken will judge him in
the last day. 49For I have not spoken on My own
authority but the Father who sent Me gave Me a
command, what I should say and what I should
    speak.

54
Bible Authority and Music
  • 50And I know that His command is everlasting
life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the
Father has told Me, so I speak.

55
Bible Authority and Music
  • From these verses Jesus teaches us how to view
    and handle His word.

56
Bible Authority and Music
  • From these verses Jesus teaches us how to view
    and handle His word.
  • If we do not have positive authority from Gods
    word then we do nothing!

57
Bible Authority and Music
  • God has given us all things for us to follow.

58
Bible Authority and Music
  • God has given us all things for us to follow.
  • The respect we have for Jesus word is the
    respect we have for Jesus.

59
Bible Authority and Music
  • God has given us all things for us to follow.
  • The respect we have for Jesus word is the
    respect we have for Jesus.
  • Consider the implications of the inspiration of
    Gods word. (2 Tim 316-17)

60
Bible Authority and Music
  • 2 Timothy 316-17 (NKJV) - All Scripture is given
by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of
God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for
    every good work.

61
Bible Authority and Music
  • What does perfect mean? What does every good
    work mean?

62
Bible Authority and Music
  • What should we do when the Bible does not speak
    on a subject?

63
Bible Authority and Music
  • What should we do when the Bible does not speak
    on a subject?
  • Some say it is allowable as long as the Bible
    does not condemn it.

64
Bible Authority and Music
  • What should we do when the Bible does not speak
    on a subject?
  • Some say it is allowable as long as the Bible
    does not condemn it.
  • Jesus taught us to do nothing when we have no
    authority!

65
Bible Authority and Music
  • What should we do when the Bible does not speak
    on a subject?
  • Some say it is allowable as long as the Bible
    does not condemn it.
  • Jesus taught us to do nothing when we have no
    authority!
  • Contrast this with the Pharisees handling of
    scripture. (Mt 151-9)

66
Bible Authority and Music
  • Matthew 151-9 (NKJV) - Then the scribes and
Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus,
saying, 2Why do Your disciples transgress the
tradition of the elders? For they do not wash
their hands when they eat bread. 3He answered
and said to them, Why do you also transgress the
commandment of God because of your tradition?

67
Bible Authority and Music
  • 4 For God commanded, saying, Honor your father
and your mother and, He who curses father or
mother, let him be put to death. 5 But you say,
Whoever says to his father or mother, Whatever
profit you might have received from me is a gift
    to God6

68
Bible Authority and Music
  • then he need not honor his father or mother.
Thus you have made the commandment of God of no
effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did
    Isaiah prophesy about you, saying

69
Bible Authority and Music
  • 8 These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is
far from Me. And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

70
Bible Authority and Music
  • What has God instructed the church to do on earth
under the authority of the New Testament?

71
Bible Authority and Music
  • We are no longer under the Old Testament law.
    (Col 214-17)

72
Bible Authority and Music
  • Colossians 214-17 (NKJV) - having wiped out the
handwriting of requirements that was against us,
which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out
of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15
Having disarmed principalities and powers, He
made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over
    them in it.

73
Bible Authority and Music
  • 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink,
or regarding a festival or a new moon or
sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to
come, but the substance is of Christ.

74
Bible Authority and Music
  • Under the Old Testament God clearly showed His
pleasure in some kinds of instrumental music. (2
    Chron 2925 Psa 150)

75
Bible Authority and Music
  • 2 Chronicles 2925 (NKJV) - And he stationed the
Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals,
with stringed instruments, and with harps,
according to the commandment of David, of Gad the
kings seer, and of Nathan the prophet for thus
was the commandment of the Lord by His prophets.

76

teach about heaven that were never meant to be
used as authority for local churches here on
    earth.

88
Bible Authority and Music
  • The book of Revelation uses various figures to
teach about heaven that were never meant to be
used as authority for local churches here on

  • Conclusion Lets open our Bibles and carefully
    examine our hearts and our
    practices! (Acts 1711)

89
Bible Authority and Music
  • Acts 1711 (NKJV) - These were more fair-minded
than those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness, and searched the
Scriptures daily to find out whether these things
    were so.
