Tips on Writing Winning Grants
  1. Select a small committee that will benefit from
    the winning grant
  2. Ask for copies of previous winning grants
  3. Review the curriculum standards for education
    grants
  4. Include pre- and post-assessment strategies

  • Make use of grant resources listed online
  • Talk to the district business office and other
    school agencies
  • Grant writing supplies
  • Computers, other technology, AV projection,
    printer, desks
  • Food!
  • Writing supplies markers, pens, paper, etc.
  • Curriculum guides, technology plans, etc.

Writing Techniques
  • Be clear and to the point
  • Catch the readers attention
  • Write in third-person
  • Select an interesting, appropriate title
  • Be liberal with spacing, sub-headings, and
    underlines. Limit sentences to 15 words and two
    commas per sentence
  • Follow the grants formatting guidelines to the
    letter
  • Always have someone review the grant draft prior
    to mailing
  • SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!

When You Win a Grant
  • Do not be shy about sharing the good news
  • Use the media (web sites, television, board
    meetings, etc.) to celebrate and thank committee
    members
  • Depending on the grant, remember that prizes or
    gifts for team members develops unity

    grant was rejected
  • Share the information received with your
