Title: All I need to know about life I learned in CTAP 295.

1
All I need to know about life I learned in CTAP
295.
  • Un Séjour à Paris
  • Ctap295.ctaponline.org/cadavis
  • Carla M. Davis

2
A true friend can be both RED HOT and BLUE
COOL.Expanding experiences, adding elements of
creativity and current information to the
classroom.
  • Hear the actual voices of history.
  • See the world as it was, as it is, and as it will
    become.
  • Share your own personal thoughts and feelings
    with the entire world.
  • Circle the globe without ever getting on an
    airplane.
  • Discover which play to see in London on a Friday
    night or
  • where to go dancing in Paris on Saturday.

3
Trust means actually knowing how to upload.
  • Why do I want to use something that sucks my
    blood?
  • Where is that remote directory? Can I get there
    from here?
  • What do you mean I have to move the stuff from a
living room to another living room?
  • Where is that robot when you really need him?

4
Students just want to have fun!
  • Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
  • Cest dingue!
  • Chouette.
  • Je voudrais aller danser.
  • Passez-moi encore du pain et du fromage.

5

An ignorant friend is more comforting than
someone who always knows all the answers, and
more fun too!
  • Chart analysis
  • Zimmerman and Allison should have challenged the
course and stayed home on Monday nights.
  • Davis should never have attempted the course.
  • Lord might be comforting and/or fun to work with.
  • Main dropped out duh!

6
In every aspect of life there is room for
improvement, experimentation, and fine-tuning.
  • The oral presentation rubric needs to be re-done
to reflect the importance of convincing other
members of the class of the merits of individual
    choices.
  • Further thought needs to be given to the decision
to provide students with web sites as opposed to
having them search for sites on their own.
  • The time frame to create a really quality written
    presentation is somewhat unrealistic.
  • Better instructions should be given so that
students understand the importance of planning a
day geographically as well as sequentially.

7
Success in life comes one small step at a time.
  • The joy of discovery is always wonderful to
experience through the eyes of my students.
Their priorities are not mine obviously, and I
really enjoyed them calling me over to their
computers to point out places to see and things
to do in Paris that we had never studied or
    discussed in class.
  • Freetranslations.com A student introduced me to
this site which enabled me to cut and paste my
    way to accents. À à Á á È è É é Ê ê Ë ë Ç ç
  • The students all truly had fun creating their
power Point Presentation. They colored and moved
text, added pictures and animation to their
hearts content. Each slide of the presentation
definitely reflects the personality of its
    creator.

Good times are even better when they are shared.

  • I have long been a proponent of standards based
curriculum so I encountered no problem whatsoever
identifying and evaluating the language standards
    required for my web lesson.
  • With regard to the integration of technology in
the classroom the web is obviously an incredible
resource for myself as well as my students. The
information about the French speaking world is
current, fun to browse through, and available
    quickly and easily.
  • The ability to create Power Point Presentations
adds yet another format in which students can
present information to me and to the entire
class. I think it is important for students to be
given as many options as possible, within the
boundaries of the lesson, to allow for individual
    learning styles and abilities.

9
You can never have too much time in the CTAP lab.
  • I honestly feel that the most important thing
that I got from completing CTAP 295 is a very
simple concept - that all things are possible to
those who listen carefully to Brian. Believe it
or not I am a fairly proficient Mac user,
especially when it comes to using PageMaker and
    other publishing programs. Thankfully, this
class has enabled me to sit before the monitor of
a PC searching for a program and asking myself
why is there a right click AND a left click
without that terrible feeling of hopelessness and
    inadequacy.
