HANDWASHING CLEAN HANDS KEEP YOU HEALTHY!
Keeping hands clean through improved hand hygiene
is one of the most important steps we can take to
avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.
Many diseases and conditions are spread by not
properly washing hands Protect yourself and your
family by practicing proper hand hygiene.
WHEN SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR HANDS?

• Before, during, and after preparing food
• Before eating food
• Before and after caring for someone who is sick
• Before and after treating a cut or wound
• After using the restroom
• After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who
  has used the restroom
• After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
• After touching an animal or animal waste
• After handling pet food or pet treats
• After touching garbage

• PROPER HANDWASHING
• Wet hands
• Apply soap
• Lather well, rub hands together for at least 20
  seconds
• (Scrub wrists, back of hands, between fingers,
  and under finger nails)
• Rinse
• Dry hands with clean towel/air dry

Healthy Tip of the Week

• MAKE HANDWASHING FUN!
• Make a handwashing song or help kids slowly count
  to 20 while lathering hands
• Sing Happy Birthday Song twice while lathering
• Ask child to teach his/her favorite toy or doll
  to wash their hands

HAND HYGIENE ON THE GO! When clean water and soap
is unavailable, hand sanitizer is a great way to
clean your hands before eating or after coughing
or sneezing! Keep portable hand sanitizers on
your purse, your childs backpack, and your
keychain
