Title: Exams Officer Training
1Professional Development
Jan Martin, CPD Manager
2Professional Development for the Examination
Community
3 Professional Development is...
- the process which keeps us interested in our
work, gives us the drive to progress and is
something we do every day of our lives without
even thinking about it. It is essential to
maintain high levels of professional competence
by continually improving knowledge and skills,
keeping abreast of new technology and practice
and also by taking ownership of your career. It
ultimately, makes us employable throughout our
working lives. - Jill Hilton ,School Workforce Development
Officer, Wigan
4Professional Development - Why?
To promote qualified examination community
- As School Workforce Advisor I felt it was
important that we support our Examination
Officers in this qualification as a recognition
of the skills and the professionalism they need
in carrying out what is an increasingly demanding
role. We see the BTEC as a developmental
qualification providing opportunities to meet and
share information with other EOs while analysing
and reflecting on ones own practice in school
which is a very powerful process. - Jane Reynolds Stockton-on Tees
5Professional Development - Why?
- To give individuals a relevant qualification
- I want my team to be as qualified in our
vocational area as any other department in the
college and to be recognised as highly qualified.
Each member of my team has a relevant BTEC
qualification -
6Professional Development - Why
- Not knowing what will happen when schools merge
I want to be able to secure the post of exam
officer. The qualification can help towards
this - With all the restructuring in our area I want
to show that I am committed to the role of exam
officer showing that I want and - do the job
7Professional Development - Why?
- I needed this qualification to secure my
promotion - I am going for a new job and I can put the
qualification down on my application form and CV
