4What is the purpose of the Sacraments?
"the sacraments make the Church, since they
manifest and communicate to men, above all in the
Eucharist, the mystery of communion with the God
who is love, One in three persons.

5Sacraments are "powers that comes forth" from the
Body of Christ, which is ever-living and
life-giving.
They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in
his Body, the Church.
They are "the masterworks of God" in the new and
everlasting covenant.

8Who Instituted the Sacraments ?
All of the sacraments were instituted by Jesus
Christ our Lord.
When did Jesus institute and sanctify the

During his life time here on earth.

Jesus was baptism by John the Baptist and by his
command to the apostles/disciples
Baptize all with water in the name of the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Confirmation Was Instituted At
Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon the
Apostles
10Eucharist Was Instituted At The
Last Supper, Jesus instituted The Holy Eucharist
with these words
This is my body which is given for you. Do this
in remembrance of me.
This cup which is poured out for you is the New
Covenant in my blood. Do this in remembrance of
me.
11Sacrament of Reconciliation
When Jesus told the apostles Whose sin you
shall forgive in my name they are forgiven, whose
sins you shall not forgive they are not forgiven
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
By his own healing of the sick and when he sent
the apostles out to preach and heal in his name
12Sacrament of Holy Orders
At the Last Supper when he gave the apostle the
command to be a servant to all and in His name
the power to change bread and wine into his body
and blood in his name
Sacrament of Matrimony
At the Wedding Feast of Cana Jesus performed his
first miracle. He changed water into wine .
Jesus taught through his preaching that the union
of a man and woman in marriage should be
permanent until death.
