The Heart To Teach
  • Samuel 1223
  • 23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin
against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And
I will teach you the way that is good and right
  • Before we can teach we must desire to teach.
  • God wants us to teach!
  • Sound teaching is a result of
  • Close relationship w/ God.
  • Devotion to his word.
  • Diligent study.

3
The Physician
  • Dr what is wrong with you today?
  • Juan I feel a pinch in my shoulder, I just
  • killed a guy in football but now I feel as if a
  • needle was stuck down my shoulder
  • Dr Let me see It seems like your strength is
out, and you have limited motion. It could be a
tore ligament, but it seems to me that you have a
    pinched nerve.

4
Teach It!
  • How did the apostles do it?
  • 1 Thessalonians 15because our gospel came to
you not simply with words, but also with power,
with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction.
You know how we lived among you for your sake.
  • You too, teach with power, with the Holy Spirit,
with deep conviction, and a great example!
  • Thats the standard!

5
Why Do We Need To Teach Salvation?
  • Because we are lost.
  • Why are we lost?
  • Because we sin?
  • What does sin do?
  • It separates us from God.
  • Isaiah 592
  • But your iniquities have separated you from your
God your sins have hidden his face from you, so
    that he will not hear.
  • So, salvation is about
  • God reaching out to us.
  • Removing that sin.
  • Being born again.
  • Coming to a relationship with God.

6
Grace
  • Romans 39-10
  • 9 What shall we conclude then? Are we any
better? Not at all! We have already made the
charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under
sin. 10As it is written    "There is no one
    righteous, not even one
  • 1 Timothy 23-5
  • 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who
wants all men to be saved and to come to a
knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and
one mediator between God and men, the man Christ
    Jesus.
  • Hebrews 29
  • 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower
than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor
because he suffered death, so that by the grace
of God he might taste death for everyone.

7
Removing That Sin
  • How do we get rid of the sin?
  • Ephesians 17
  • 7In him we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the
    riches of God's grace.
  • Through the blood of Jesus.
  • How do we get this blood?
  • Colossians 119-20
  • 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness
dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to
himself all things, whether things on earth or
things in heaven, by making peace through his
    blood, shed on the cross.

Faith
  • Taught in the Gospels, Acts, Epistles.
  • There is harmony and consistency all throughout
    the NT.
  • Mark 114-15
  • 14 And after John had been taken into custody,
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of
God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand repent and believe in
    the gospel."
  • Acts 514
  • 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women
believed in the Lord and were added to their
    number.
  • Galatians 322
  • 22 But the Scripture declares that the whole
world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was
promised, being given through faith in Jesus
Christ, might be given to those who believe.
23Before this faith came, we were held prisoners
by the law, locked up until faith should be
revealed. 24So the law was put in charge to lead
us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.
25Now that faith has come, we are no longer under
    the supervision of the law.

10
Repentance
  • Taught in the Gospels, Acts, Epistles.
  • There is harmony and consistency all throughout
    the NT.
  • Luke 245
  • 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too
    will all perish.
  • Acts 317-19
  • 19Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your
sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing
    may come from the Lord
  • Romans 66
  • 6For we know that our old self was crucified
with him so that the body of sin might be done
away with, that we should no longer be slaves to
sin-- 7because anyone who has died has been freed
    from sin

11
Lordship/Confession
  • Taught in the Gospels, Acts, Epistles.
  • There is harmony and consistency all throughout
    the NT.
  • Mark 834
  • 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his
disciples and said "If anyone would come after
me, he must deny himself and take up his cross
    and follow me.
  • Acts 236
  • 36 Therefore let all Israel be assured of this
God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both
    Lord and Christ.
  • Galatians 220
  • 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no
longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I
live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of
God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

12
Baptism
  • John 35
  • 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no
one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is
born of water and the Spirit.
  • Acts 2216
  • 16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be
baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his
    name.
  • Titus 34-7
  • 4 But when the kindness and love of God our
Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of
righteous things we had done, but because of his
mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured
out on us generously through Jesus Christ our
Savior, 7so that, having been justified by his
grace, we might become heirs having the hope of
    eternal life.

13
Reception of the Holy Spirit
  • Mark 17-8,
  • 7 And this was his message "After me will come
one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose
sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.
8I baptize you with water, but he will baptize
    you with the Holy Spirit.
  • Acts 238-39
  • 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized,
every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for
the forgiveness of your sins. And you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The
promise is for you and your children and for all
who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God
    will call.
  • Ephesians 113
  • 13 And you also were included in Christ when
you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, you were marked in
him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who
is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until
the redemption of those who are God's
possession--to the praise of his glory.

14
Reception of the HS and Forgiveness Happens at
the Same Time
  • John 35
  • 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no
one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is
born of water and the Spirit.
  • 1 John 56
  • 6 This is the one who came by water and
blood--Jesus Christ. He did not come by water
only, but by water and blood. And it is the
Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the
truth. 7For there are three that testify 8the
Spirit, the water and the blood and the three
    are in agreement.

15
Becoming Part Of The Body
  • 1 Corinthians 1213
  • 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit
into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or
free--and we were all given the one Spirit to
    drink.
  • Ephesians 218-22
  • 18 For through him we both have access to the
Father by one Spirit. 19Consequently, you are no
longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens
with God's people and members of God's household,
20built on the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief
cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is
joined together and rises to become a holy temple
in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built
together to become a dwelling in which God lives
    by his Spirit

16
