In the beginning
  • First Rotary Club in Chicago in 1905 by Paul P.
    Harris
  • Original club met for fellowship, in rotation,
    hence the name Rotary
  • Now 33,000 clubs with 1.2 million members

Motto Service Above Self
  • There needed to be a purpose!
  • First project a public washroom in Chicago
  • Rotary became worlds 1st service club
  • 1910 - RC Winnipeg, Manitoba chartered and made
    Rotary International

Rotary Leadership
  • Rotary International governed by a President and
    Board of Directors elected from around the world
  • Each district annually selects a District
    Governor
  • Each Rotary Club is an autonomous group
  • Charters with 20 members
