History.
  1. Wheat GeneBank system was moved to Inventory
    Management System (IMS).
  2. Currently, most of all activities related to
    Wheat Genebank are supported by IMS.
  3. Last year Maize Genebank system was moved to IMS
    too. Currently is in test phase.
  4. For both crops, Maize and Wheat, all passport
    data is available in ICIS database structure.

Activities - 2009.
  1. SINGER workshop on Beltsville. (Short
    presentation of GRIN-GLOBAL).
  2. Visit to IRRI in order to known more about GRIMS
    .
  3. Analysis of advantages and disadvantages of
    IMS,GRIMS and GRIN-GLOBAL.

ICIS - GMS available - One genebank tool (Inventory System) already available Data tables (GMS, DMS, IMS, GEMS) in the same package Global System to handle multicrops in the same DB Schema Funds available for a MBP Breeder MBP oriented, not specific for GR No funds and willingness available to focus development on Genetic Resources M. Access based (limited capacity) Single user Future Uncertain ICIS has missing types of data, mostly for genebank operation tables

Database schema unknown to us It will require training It will required crop based adaptations Time frame uncertain We wont be part of the project

  • Development a new system (java platform).

Development of Generic GRIMS
  • Keep the current interface and make the changes
    for all crops.
  • Migrate the ORACLE sql statements to PostgreSql
    statements.

The preliminary time estimation in order to
migrate the ORACLE sql statements to PostgreSQL
statements is 6 months.

Pending tasks..
  • Load evaluation and characterization data for
    Maize and Wheat.
  • Development a query option for Passport data.
  • Development a query option for evaluation and
    characterization data (Retriever?, Zeus?).
  • Development a user friendly option in order to
    upload passport data.
