Strawberry Festival

• The strawberry was the first fruit on earth
• It was celebrated in May or early June
• Iroquois feasted on sweet strawberries
• It was a sweet beginning to Spring

Harvest Festival

• The Harvest Festival was celebrated because the
  Iroquois were getting ready for Winter
• They picked corn ,squash and beans
• The Iroquois people stored the three sisters
• They prayed ,danced ,sang songs played and feasted

New Years Festival

• The Iroquois cleaned their own long houses
• They started a new fire for a new year
• The festival lasted seven days long the longest
  one of all
• They dressed in bear skin

Green corn festival

• Was celebrate in August
• Any baby that was born in winter got its name
• Speeches were held throughout the festival
• At the end of the festival they played the peach
  stone game

Planting Festival

• It was held in the spring
• They gave thanks to the Great Sprits
• They would bless the seeds before they put the
  seeds in the earth

Maple Festival

• The Iroquois celebrate this festival in the early
  Spring
• The Iroquois gave thanks to the Great Spirits for
  giving sweet waters
• Tobacco was burned and smoked for religious
  purposes
