1The Glory of Our Salvation
1Peter 13-25
2The Glory of Our Salvation
Three weeks ago I introduced the epistles of
12Peter. They are written against a background
of suffering and trial. As we continue our look,
tonight, our wonderful salvation.
3The Glory of Our Salvation
THE GLORY OF OUR SALVATION IS SEEN IN ITS
CHARACTER (1Pet. 13-12). Our great inheritance
is 1. Incorruptible. 2. Undefiled. 3. Unfading
. 4. Reserved in Heaven. 5. Protected in time
and eternity.
4The Glory of Our Salvation
THE GLORY OF OUR SALVATION IS SEEN IN ITS
CHARACTER (1Pet. 13-12). The glory of our
salvation is seen in its greatness 1. It is the
subject of prophetic inquiry. 2. It is the
subject or spirit of revelation. 3. It is the
subject of apostolic preaching. 4. It is the
subject or angelic inquiry.
5The Glory of Our Salvation
THE GLORY OF OUR SALVATION IS SEEN IN THE FRUIT
OF HOPE (1Pet. 113-16). Three challenges to
Christians 1. Gird up the loins of the
mind. 2. Be sober. 3. Set your hope on the
grace to come.
6The Glory of Our Salvation
THE GLORY OF OUR SALVATION IS SEEN IN THE CALL
TO FEAR (1Pet. 117-21). Christians are 1. To
fear God. 2. The redeemed. 3. The
foreknown. 4. Full of faith and hope.
7The Glory of Our Salvation
THE GLORY OF OUR SALVATION IS SEEN IN ITS LOVE
(1Pet. 122-25). What is this love? 1. The
nature of this love -- agape. 2. The character
of this love -- sincere. 3. The degree of this
love -- fervent. 4. The source of this love --
of a pure heart. 5. The reason for this love --
purified souls.
8The Glory of Our Salvation
Peter tries to encourage the Christians by
telling them of what they have in
Christ. Knowing of how great salvation is, can
be a big help in overcoming trials 1. Christians
have a great inheritance and a great
hope. 2. Christians have a call to be reverent
to love the truth and the brethren.
